When the homeowner approached us for a complete garden redesign in Edinburgh, they were seeking more than just a visual refresh. The existing garden featured a large, uninspiring patio and fragmented zones with little cohesion. Our task was to completely reimagine the space, with the following priorities:

Design a stylish outdoor entertaining area with a pergola and kitchen
Revamp existing orchard and vegetable areas
Add statement features and lush, year-round planting
Redesign the driveway to improve the property’s kerb appeal

Our landscape designers created a bespoke garden design plan with a strong architectural layout, clean lines and carefully selected planting. The design focused on harmony between hard and soft landscaping while ensuring each zone felt welcoming and usable.

Premium Materials & Mediterranean Touches

The central patio — previously a plain expanse — was upgraded with large-format porcelain tiles from London Stone, chosen for their timeless aesthetic and durability. These created a clean, modern foundation for the seating and outdoor kitchen areas, sheltered under a custom pergola.

Throughout the garden, we introduced mature olive trees, hand-selected and imported from Spain. Positioned strategically — including within the newly shaped rear garden beds and the circular bed at the front entrance — they lend a bold, Mediterranean character to the entire space.

To keep the layout fluid, corten steel edging was used to define planting borders, while new lawn paths weave through the garden for an organic, relaxed flow.

Lighting, Planting & Structure

A thoughtfully designed garden lighting plan was implemented to highlight key features — from olive trees to the water table — and extend usability into the evening. The planting scheme focuses on structure and seasonal interest, combining evergreens, ornamental grasses and flowering perennials to ensure the garden remains lively all year round.
